The Hospital Hygiene area is the interface between the institute lab areas and the clinics or physicians with private practices. Simple and quick communication allows issues related to patient results from microbiology diagnostics - whether of a therapeutic or hospital hygiene nature - to be resolved fast and efficiently. This occurs in close collaboration with the Section of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Department of Internal Medicine.
Other responsibilities of the Hospital Hygiene area are to deal with epidemiological problems with an emphasis on multiresistant pathogens and to coordinate training programs.
